It’s that time again–Willie’s Women had their monthly book recommendations. A small group met briefly on Zoom to offer their suggestions to whet your appetite for both fiction and nonfiction.
Read below to learn this month’s recommendations!
CAROL; Carol is a fan of Lisa See and is currently reading Flower Net. Presently Carol isn’t very far into the book but so far she is enjoying it.
KARI; Kari read an interview on Jeffrey Archer in a Viking Cruises magazine. The article mentioned his latest, Hidden in Plain Sight, but after reading the interview, Kari expressed most interest in reading his Kane and Abel trilogy.
CHRISTINE: Christine is currently reading Juliet Blackwell’s The Vinyards of Champagne and enthusiastically mentioned several titles and series by this author.
PENI JO; Hillbilly Elegy; A Memoir of a Family and Culture in Crisis by J.D. Vance is the autobiography of a young man growing up in a poor part of Kentucky. His dysfunctional family includes a well-meaning but tough grandmother and an abusive drug-addicted mother. Despite so much against him, J.D. joins the Marines and later graduates from Yale. Heart-wrenching but at the same time uplifting.
Willie’s Women meets on Zoom the 2nd Monday of every month unless otherwise specified.
